CLIA-waived laboratory services are performed in our clinic and others through a contracted
reference laboratory. Once accepted into a program at Augusta University, students
are eligible to have titers drawn at our clinic prior to their enrollment date to
assist in meeting the AU immunization requirements.
Walk-in Lab Services
You do not need a formal appointment for:
- Blood test draws: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
- TB skin testing: Every day during normal hours of operation, EXCEPT Thursday
- Immunizations (vaccines): Monday-Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Get Yourself Tested (GYT): Sexually transmitted infection testing available by walk-ins Monday- Friday 8:00
am – 3:00 pm (some fees may apply). Testing available for HIV, Trichomoniasis, Syphilis,
Gonorrhea, Chlamydia. Urine pregnancy test is available upon request. In order to
qualify, you must meet the following:
- Not have any symptoms of an STI
- Not have been notified by a sexual partner that has tested positive for an STI
Lab Tests Performed at the Student Health Clinic (CLIA-waived)
- Flu Rapid Test: A swab inserted into the nostrils is used to detect the presence of Flu A or Flu
B virus in a few minutes.
- Glucose: A venous blood stick, used to check the glucose level in the blood.
- Mono Test: A venous blood stick, used to diagnosis infectious mononucleosis in a few minutes.
- Pregnancy: Tests urine for the presence of major hormone found in pregnant women.
- Strep Screen: A small cotton swab that is grazed across the back of the tonsils and throat is used
to test for the presence of Streptococcal bacteria as the likely cause of sore throat.
- Urinalysis: General analysis of urine that is used in diagnosing urinary tract infections and
other urine related summaries
- Covid Testing: A swab inserted into the nostrils is used to detect the presence of Covid in a few
minutes.
Billing for Lab Tests
Payment for laboratory services is due at time-of-service. Students who are insured
with the Augusta University Student Health Insurance Plan can have their lab tests billed by Student Health Services. If you are a student
covered by a private insurance plan your insurance card will be sent out with the
lab order for direct billing.
