Serving our Military & Veterans

Augusta University honors service members, veterans, and military families and we are grateful for the sacrifice you make to protect the freedom and security we enjoy.

Admission Requirements

All interested military affiliated applicants must submit an application for admission and meet admission requirements.  Admission Requirements can be accessed here:

Service members, veterans, and military families may access the application for admission here.

Veteran and active duty applicants are required to submit military transcripts when applying for admission.

  • This can include, but is not limited to, a Joint Services Transcript (JST) , a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript, or Defense Language Institute (DLI).
  • Additional materials required will be determined by how many academic credits* have completed at a regionally accredited college or university.

Applicants who have completed at least 30 graded, academic semester credits*, are required to submit the following items in addition to the application for admission:

  • Military transcripts (JST or CCAF, DLI, etc.)
  • Transcripts from all colleges attended
  • A cumulative transfer GPA of 2.20 in all academic courses*

Applicants who have not completed at least 30 graded, academic semester credits*, are required to submit the following items:

  • High school transcript
  • ACT or SAT test scores
  • Military transcript (JST or CCAF or DLI, etc.)
  • Transcripts from all colleges attended (if applicable)
  • Applications are reviewed on an individual basis.

*Note: Career technical, development/remedial, and military credits do not count as academic credit.

Returning Students

If you were previously enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate at Augusta College or Georgia Regents University and wish to return as an undergraduate after an absence of at least 12 months, you must apply as a returning student.

Financing Education

The University System of Georgia (USG) waives mandatory fees for active duty service members, National Guard, and Reservists who are using Tuition Assistance. To determine eligibility for the Mandatory Fee Waiver, complete a waiver application in the Office of Military & Veterans Services or contact a staff member.

 Out-of-state tuition fee waiver

Augusta University offers several types of out of state tuition waivers to qualified students. Please review the list of waivers to take advantage of paying in-state tuition rates.

 HOPE Scholarship for high school students

Dependent children of active duty service members may qualify for the HOPE scholarship if they graduate from a Georgia high school.

 ROTC Program

Through the Army ROTC Green to Gold Division Commander’s Hip Pocket Scholarship Program, selected soldiers have the opportunity to complete their baccalaureate degree requirements and obtain a commission through participation in the ROTC Scholarship program.

 FAFSA

All students who complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be considered for need-based aid at Augusta University. The Office of Financial Aid is available to assist students with questions or concerns.


Academic Residency Requirement

Augusta University limits academic residency to no more than twenty-five percent of the degree requirements for all degrees for active duty service members, active reservists, and active National Guard members. Academic residency can be completed at any time when active duty service members are enrolled.
