Military & Veteran Services

We honor the service of our military men and women and are grateful for the sacrifices that they and their families make to protect the freedoms and security that we enjoy. We encourage you to browse our website to learn about the programs at Augusta University, the thousands of dollars available through the Army ROTC program, and other financial aid that may be available to you. Visit with us in the offices below to learn more about what Augusta University has to offer. Our historic Summerville campus on Walton Way was once the site of a U. S. Army Arsenal, established in 1826. The campus maintains its military origins, including the original 1827-29 buildings and enclosed quadrangle, a Civil War cannon, a military cemetery, and a history museum chronicling our days as an arsenal. Get to know Augusta University. You’ll find a university committed to serving the needs of our military.

In a continuing effort to support the military, the Georgia Board of Regents passed a resolution on April 20, 2012 to waive the $262.00 institutional fees for those active duty military students on the Summerville Campus and the $450.00 institutional fees for those active duty military students on the Health Science Campus of University System of Georgia Institutions.

Since Fall 2014, Augusta University has also waived mandatory fees for all active duty service members. Beginning Spring 2015, the USG agreed to allow schools to waive mandatory fees for active duty service members, National Guard and Reservists who are using Tuition Assistance. To determine your eligibility for the Mandatory Fee Waiver, complete a waiver application in the Office of Military & Veterans Services or contact a staff member.

All active duty, reservists, national guard need to contact the office at 706-729-2255 or to determine if they are eligible for the waiver of ALL mandatory fees.

As a military friendly institution we observe The Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students (HEROES) Act. We provide for the modification and waiving of some statutory and regulatory provisions related to students who receive financial aid and who are on active duty during a war or other military operation or who reside or are employed in a declared disaster area. Also, Augusta University is compliant with 34 CFR 668.18 of the Higher Education Act and provides readmission provisions for our returning service members.

Augusta University limits academic residency to no more than twenty-five percent of the degree requirements for all degrees for active-duty service members. Academic residency can be completed at any time while active duty service members are enrolled. Reservists and National Guardsmen on active duty are covered in the same manner.
