Georgia has a disproportionate number of cancer diagnoses with poor outcomes but through its dedication to serving minority and underserved populations, the Georgia Cancer Center is the state leader making progress to change this statistic. We are committed to reaching rural populations to ensure world-class cancer screenings and treatment are available to all. Partnerships with local communities for increased access to education and screenings are particularly helpful for diagnosing cases in earlier, more easily treatable stages of the disease.
In the Spring 2021, the Georgia Cancer Center partnered with News Channel 6 (WJBF) to develop our Cause for the Cure campaign. Through our collaboration, we work with members of the News Channel 6 team to share important information about a variety of cancer topics throughout the year. It is a partnership providing helpful resources, prevention strategies, and cancer screening opportunities to help people living in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) live a happier, healthier life while lowering their risk of developing cancer.

And, through various signature and community events, cancer patients, their families, their friends and the general public have the opportunity to show support for patients currently living with cancer, as well as honoring the memories of those who bravely fought this terrible disease. Would you like to get involved in our events and help connect with cancer patients, their families, and your community? Paceline is an organization started in the Fall of 2018 to ignite the Augusta area and extend across the State of Georgia and beyond to invest in the fight against cancer. Every day, researchers and staff at the Georgia Cancer Center continue to reduce the burden of cancer in the state of Georgia and across the globe. The Paceline community has already funded four significant projects, fueling innovative research to improve cancer prevention, advance treatments, and move more breakthroughs to more patients. Together, we can cure cancer faster.
