Captain Ted McNeal oversees the Augusta University Police Department Community Services Division. This division includes Criminal Investigations, Community Policing, and Crime Prevention. The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating all crimes that occur on or within the Augusta University Police Department Jurisdiction. They are also responsible for completing background checks on individuals that are applying for employment with the Augusta University Police Department. Lieutenant Sam Sherrill and Sergeant Christina Compton are assigned to this division and handle the normal day to day operations.
The Augusta University Police Department frequently holds events on campus such as Coffee with a Cop, New Student Orientation, New Hire Orientation, and other events that support the Community Policing philosophy. During this time, we take the opportunity to provide information on Crime Prevention Programs such as the Rave Guardian Application, and RAD Training (Rape Aggression Defense). Periodically, Safety Tips are sent out via social media, email, and other communication channels such as Jag Safe to bring attention to safety concerns such as Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety, and Railroad Safety.
