The Community Firearms Class is a one day, eight (8) hour class that allows members of the Augusta University community to become familiar with the firearms they own or may be purchasing in the future. The class is held at Augusta University Police Headquarters at 524 15th Street, Augusta, Georgia.
It is the responsibility of every gun owner to be as educated and as safe as possible. This course is designed for anyone with an interest in learning more about: firearms, weapons safety, and storage options, an understanding of Georgia gun laws, and enhancing one's shooting skills.
The class will consist of a half day of classroom lecture/training, a break for lunch, and the class will move to the firing range for practical skills application of the material discussed in the first half of class. The firing range is approximately 15 minutes from AUPD Headquarters, in the City of Augusta.
