The Roommate Selection and Room Selection Event for First-Years occurs in May. That is when you will be able to select your preferred roommates based on their profiles. After that, you will be able to select your room. All First-Years select from the Two-Bedroom Suite Double Occupancy (4 People per Suite) during this event.

Have a backup plan. And a backup, backup plan. Please note that room preference is not guaranteed, and all rooms are first come first served.
Email us at residencelife@augusta.edu from your school email account and we’ll try to add you on the last day of sign-up. Be careful not to miss your second chance!
If you miss the Room Selection Event entirely you will be placed into a room by the Housing staff. While you can select your roommate preference, the room placement is automatic through a program, and due to limited spaces, we do not guarantee your preferred roommate. However, the system will look at your room profile questions and pair you up with people who share the same interests.
If you are eligible to live at Elm Hall when the application opens, you will see the application. In order to live at Elm Hall, you must be in a Health Science major program and have at least an overall 3.5 GPA. If you do not see the application, you have failed to meet the requirements, or we no longer have space at Elm Hall.
There can be several reasons for this. Your friend could have chosen to be part of a Living Learning Community, they could be a scholarship athlete, or they could be a scholar. If that is the case, they do not go through room selection with the other First-Years because they have dedicated space and are with other students in their program. Your friend could already be in a roommate group. If they are in a roommate group with another group of friends, you will not see them. They can contact the roommate group leader of their group to add you to their group.

First off, make sure there is communication between all members of your group. If you are the Group Leader, during your time slot you will be able to pull them into your preferred room and assign them a space with you if you are in a roommate group. If you are the Group Leader, and your time slot is at a better time, you may ask the Group Leader to make you the Group Leader so that you may assign the spaces.
You may choose a space for yourself and your roommate on the same floor and request a room change to get together after you make the selection by immediately reaching out to the Housing Office via email (residencelife@augusta.edu) with the subject "Roommate Spaces". Or you can choose a space for yourself and unpair yourself with your roommate by leaving the roommate group. Then you can let your roommate know they need to choose a space during their appointment time. It’s important for roommates to talk about what’s most important before logging on to choose a space. Because the process is student-driven, we cannot predict what spaces will be available or where. Think about the following: Would you rather stay together and choose a different floor? Or would you rather reserve separate spaces in order to get the location you want?
All roommates can check their room status and roommates on the housing portal by looking at the Term Selector, on the first page, under the housing application. The green square will let you know all the information for roommates and room space.
Call us at 706-729-2300 ASAP and will try to help you out. However, the space you selected may need to be changed if other students have filled the room. Please note that room preference is not guaranteed, and all rooms are first come first served.
