Interview invitations are only sent out after reviewing all applications received. Typically the first round of interview invitations is sent out two to three weeks following our ability to see applications in ResidencyCAS. Interviews occur on selected Wednesdays from October to January. We offer both in-person and virtual interview dates, please carefully look at which format you are signing up for in ResidencyCAS when selecting a date.
For in-person dates, we also have an informal dinner the evening before the interview
date which provides applicants with an excellent opportunity to meet and interact
with some of our current residents. Virtual interview formats do not have any events
planned the day before the interview date. Detailed information regarding the interview
process will be provided at the time an interview is offered.
We interview approximately 12 candidates per interview date, with both a morning and
afternoon session.
Each interview session includes...

Program Highlights / Question & Answer with Residency Leadership

Interviews with Faculty and Residents
Catered Lunch with Residents + Guided Tour of Facilities
For civilian applicants, we accept applications for our training program via ResidencyCAS.
Departmental Leadership reviews the applications and offers interviews based on the overall strength of the candidate's record. We follow a rolling interview offer timeline, with interview invites extended in December and sometimes January if interview spots open as cancellations occur. If you have not heard from our program by November 1st with an interview offer or rejection, you are on the waitlist, and we extend invitations to waitlisted candidates based on interview day availability as cancellations occur. The virtual versus in-person format has no bearing on our program's rank list, and we continue to offer both interview formats to meet the individual needs of as many interested candidates as possible. We do not offer a "second-look" day as that also has no bearing on our program's rank list, and we do not want to pressure interested applicants into additional time and money expenditures on our program following the interview. However, if you are relatively local or will be in Augusta, GA for another reason and would like the opportunity to see the Wellstar MCG Emergency Department due to initially interviewing virtually, you are welcome to email our program coordinator or program director, and we will get you in touch with a chief resident to offer a brief tour and answer any additional questions you may have.
Interviews for military applicants are scheduled by contacting the department directly:
