Why you came to AU/MCG to train: The wide variety of disease and trauma experienced in the department along with the early push for resident autonomy made MCG stand out from all other programs.
Favorite things to do in Augusta: My family and I have enjoyed the nearby lake, kayaking on the Savannah river, and a full embrace of Augusta's high-energy golf culture.
Your Future Plans: I am an Army resident, so my plans are dependent on government whim, but hopefully a path into operational medicine.

Area of Focus: Undecided
Why you came to AU/MCG to train: I came to MCG for several reasons, but the two main reasons were the volume of high-acuity patients and the people. MCG sees a lot of sick patients with a wide variety of presentations which is best suited for my learning style. Also, everyone in the department and the program are just wonderful people who have made me feel at home.
Favorite things to do in Augusta: Spending time with friends, baking, singing in church choir, going to concerts/shows, and getting out to the FATS trails, the canal, and the Greenway.
Your future plans: Army medicine for a while, and then likely some community EM and maybe Sports Medicine.

Why you came to AU/MCG to train: I was drawn in by the acuity of patients and the broad medley of procedures I'd be able to do and learn. I knew from day 1 that the leadership from rotation clerkship to the CMO had my best interests at heart.
Favorite things to do in Augusta: Running on the numerous trails, finding new places to eat, hanging out with friends around the riverwalk.
Your future plans: Serve the Army and will decide between rural and academics at a later date!

Hometown: Egbuoma, Imo State, Nigeria by way of Irvington, NJ
Undergraduate Training: Georgia Southern University - Biology
Medical School: Medical College of Georgia
Area of Focus: Global Health, Health Disparities
Why you came to AU/MCG to train: My journey in medicine began as an MCG medical student in 2015 where I had the privilege of spending spare weekends shadowing in our emergency department. I would ultimately return back to MCG after two years of general surgery residency in Atlanta during the peak of the pandemic. MCG and the CSRA offers an incredible learning experience with a diverse patient demographic and high acuity pediatric and adult cases. AU/MCG's status as a Level 1 trauma and tertiary referral center further enhances an already robust clinical experience. Furthermore, MCG's EM department provides a true family atmosphere. I feel incredibly privileged to train with and learn under my peers, fellows, attendings, and EM staff.
Favorite things to do in Augusta: Staying active with my local church, working out at local gyms, and enjoying movie and dinner dates with my wife.
Your future plans: Community EM Practice, medical missions

Area of Focus: Ultrasound, MSK
Why you came to AU/MCG to train: After medical school at MCG in 2017, I left to serve with the U.S. Navy. After two tours as a U.S. Navy Flight Surgeon, I missed MCG for its top-tier yet down-to-earth academics, and I missed the city of Augusta for its "just big enough" size and great communities. The Emergency Medicine Residency program here truly acts as a family from the attendings all the way to the interns, and I never saw this from any other program in my experience. I knew MCG would develop me into an exceptional clinician while also going above and beyond to support my family along the way.
Favorite things to do in Augusta: Going for runs along the Augusta Canal. Taking the kids to GreenJackets games. Eating good food at prices I can afford!
Your future plans: Likely fellowship and staying in Augusta.

ABOUT
Hometown: Pueblo, CO
Undergraduate Training: Colorado State University - Pueblo Campus
Medical School: Rocky Vista University
Area of Focus: Critical Care Medicine
Why you came to AU/MCG to train: When I was rotating as a student, a few things stood out to me. The staff and residents were a perfect fit. Also, the patient flow and acuity were higher than the other programs that I was applying to. The last thing that I noticed was that the program has a great balance between residents with families and those without families. Being a resident with a family of my own, this was very important.
Favorite things to do in Augusta: Going to the range, kayaking/canoeing, fishing, hiking.
Your Future Plans: A career in the Army. Potentially critical care.
