The Green to Gold Active Duty Option Program is a two-year program that provides eligible, active-duty enlisted soldiers an opportunity to complete a baccalaureate degree or a two-year graduate degree and earn a commission as an Army Officer.

Green to Gold Active Duty Option Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Signal Corps Company Executive Officer, Signal Battalion

Why Green to Gold? After serving as an enlisted Soldier, Nassri wanted to build on his experience and take on greater leadership responsibilities as an Army Officer. The Green to Gold Active Duty Option allowed him to pursue his education and earn a commission while continuing to serve on active duty and support his family.

The Jaguar Battalion Experience: Nassri describes his experience with Augusta University Army ROTC as both challenging and rewarding. Serving in multiple cadet leadership positions allowed him to grow as a leader, learn from others, and bring his enlisted perspective into a new environment. Balancing graduate school, Army ROTC, and family responsibilities also strengthened his discipline and time-management skills.

Preparing for the Next Chapter: Nassri's graduate studies strengthened his research, critical-thinking, and communication skills, while Army ROTC provided opportunities to apply leadership and planning under pressure. Together, those experiences helped him transition from an enlisted Soldier to a commissioned officer and prepared him for the responsibility of leading Soldiers in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

Advice for Future Green to Gold Soldiers: “Start preparing early, stay organized, and ask questions throughout the application process. Bring your experience with you, but remain willing to learn from everyone around you. Take each leadership opportunity seriously and remember that the goal is to become an officer whom Soldiers can trust.”

Benefits

Soldiers selected to participate in this program will continue to receive their current pay and allowances while in the program (up to a maximum of 24 consecutive months)

Requirements

U.S. citizen (non-waivable)
Age - Be under 30 years of age on the date of the projected graduation and commission. (waivers can be requested)
Cannot have been convicted of a domestic violence crime
Have a minimum of two years active duty at the time of application as well as three months of active duty for every one month of specialized training (waiver can be requested)
GT score of 110 or greater
Pass the APFT within the last six months with score of 180 or higher, minimum of 60 points in each event
College grade point average of 2.5
Letter of acceptance to school of hoice offering Army ROTC
Letter of acceptance from the PMS of that Army ROTC Battalion
Favorable national agency check (or have initiated the action)
DODMERB medical qualification
Be eligible to re-enlist
Not be a conscientious objector
No more than three dependents including spouse (waivable)
