Scott Barman, PhD, FAHA

  • Assistant Dean for Admissions

Dr. Barman currently holds the rank of Professor and Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and is the Assistant Dean for Admissions for the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. His research area involves studying mechanisms of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). He received his doctorate from the University of North Dakota in Physiology and completed a Post-doctoral Fellowship at the University of South Alabama in the area of pulmonary pathophysiology. He is the recipient of a Parker B. Francis Pulmonary Fellowship Award, American Heart Training Fellowship, and an NIH Training Fellowship as well as numerous extramural grants from the NIH and AHA. His professional memberships include the North Dakota Academy of Science, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, American Physiological Society, New York Academy of Sciences, and the American Heart Association Council for Blood Pressure Research. He has served on American Heart Association, NIH, and Department of Defense American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS) review panels. He has also served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Applied Physiology and the Open Nitric Oxide Journal, and currently is an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Systems and Integrative Pharmacology. He reviews manuscripts for 18 scientific journals and has published 66 articles and 15 book chapters.

Macy Knowles, MPA

  • Director of Admissions & Recruitment Operations

Macy is the Director of Admissions and Recruitment Operations at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. She is a two time alumna of Augusta University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in History, Minor in Gendered Studies in 2014 and her Master of Public Administration in 2021. She began her professional career as an Admissions Counselor and Dual Enrollment Coordinator in the Office of Academic Admissions. In 2017, she became the Program Manager for the College of Education where she managed the application process for all incoming students. In 2020, she added Certification Officer to her responsibilities. With that, she was responsible for awarding Georgia certification to initial certification candidates. Prior to becoming the Director of Admissions & Recruitment Operations, she was the Associate Director of Admissions for the Medical College of Georgia. Macy is passionate about medical admissions and looks forward to working with prospective and incoming MCG students!

  • Associate Director of Admissions

Lacey White is an alumnus of Augusta University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. She joined the AU staff in 2019 as an Academic Coordinator. She later transitioned to the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University as an Admissions Counselor and then the Senior Admissions Counselor. Lacey is currently the Associate Director of Admissions and has been promoting excellence throughout the Office of Admissions. Lacey is self-motivated, driven, and is enthusiastic about connecting with prospective and current MCG students. Her goal is to see all students excel academically and professionally.

Christina Prophet Shorter is a determined and driven professional with over 15 years of experience in customer service, leadership, and administrative work. She is an Augusta native who received her BA in Organizational Management from the University of Arizona. In 2023, Christina joined Augusta University as an Admissions Counselor for the Medical College of Georgia. She has a passion for people and loves seeing everyone win. Christina welcomes the opportunity to connect with aspiring MCG students and is enthusiastic about guiding them towards their academic and professional goals.

Matarsha is an admissions counselor for the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. With her over 20 year tenure with Augusta University, Matarsha adds a focus of excellent administrative and customer service to the admissions team!  She is excited to bring her wealth of knowledge and experience in admissions, philanthropy, and business operations. She is compassionate, hardworking, and loves to help others.  Matarsha has earned her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) from Georgia Southern University and is currently continuing her graduate studies.  She enjoys ethnic food, traveling, and volunteering in her community.  Matarsha is excited to be working with current and prospective students to ensure their academic and career goals are met!

Patricia Lee, MBA, M.P.M.

  • Admissions Counselor

Patricia Lee is an Admissions Counselor for the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Project Management. Patricia is a servant leader that works diligently with compassion and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of customer service, leadership, and service excellence. She engages in and supports various community projects. She is the Administrative Support Manager for the non-profit organization, Women Owning Wellness and is also the Special Projects Liaison for Restoration Ministries International. Before coming to this role as Admissions Counselor at MCG, Patricia worked in the Registrar’s Office managing the development of the Schedule of Classes, training for Scheduling Coordinators, and assisted with validation of Academic Data Collection.  Patricia is an avid supporter of youth and young adults as it relates to their education and divine purpose in life. As a mother of three young men, Patricia understands the necessity for a strong support system that will encourage you, challenge, and help propel you forward.

  • Office Coordinator

Genna Salvador is an alumnus of Augusta University where she obtained her BA in Marketing. While cultivating an extensive background in leadership, customer service and communications, Genna earned her MA in Organizational Leadership from the University of Arizona. In 2023, Genna joined Augusta University as the Office Coordinator for the Medical College of Georgia. Genna’s commitment to learning continues to this day as she is currently pursuing her certification in prompt engineering of long language models from Vanderbilt University. She is excited to leverage her creativity, experience in client services and passion for marketing to contribute positively to her team. She is dedicated to continuous improvement and, with an eye for detail, she is committed to helping organizations run smoothly and efficiently.
