High School Counselors

Students interest in taking Dual Enrollment courses are encouraged to talk with their High School Counselor as early as possible. Here are a few things to keep in mind when working with your students:

  • Home Study parents act as your student’s High School Counselor and will be required to complete their funding every semester. You can learn more about this at GAfutures.
  • Students, parents, and High School Counselors should work together to carefully assess whether Dual Enrollment is a good fit for the students.
  • College courses are typically more rigorous than high school courses and move at a faster pace (semester vs. year-long).
  • Dual enrollment courses result in real college credit and the grades earned become a part of the student’s permanent college record.
  • Grades are reported as a letter grade on the student’s college transcript.
  • A student’s performance in a Dual Enrollment course could impact their future eligibility for college admission and scholarships as well as high school graduation.
  • Students must be accepted to Augusta University before being granted permission to register for class.
  • Students are responsible for registering themselves for class, unless taking a course on-site at their high school.
  • Course day, time, format, etc. are not guaranteed.
  • An electronic transcript will be provided for each enrolled student following the ‘last day to submit grades’ for the semester to the High School Counselor who approved the student’s GAfutures Funding Application.

Any questions can be directed to dualenrollment@augusta.edu or 706-737-1632.

Transcripts

Official Dual Enrollment transcripts will be sent to the High School following the ‘last day to submit grades’ for the semester. Transcripts are sent electronically to the High School Counselor who approved the student’s GAfutures Funding Application. All grades are reported as letter grades; numeric grades are not provided.

Students planning to attend another college or university after high school will need to request that their Augusta University transcript be sent to their new institution. How to request a transcript »
