Multicultural Greek Council
The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is a self-governing body composed of different culturally-based national and international fraternities and sororities. MGC promotes success in higher education and advances diversity, inclusion, and multicultural awareness, while catering to marginalized groups at Augusta University.
History
Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. was nationally founded on September 29, 1990, by thirteen inspiring young women from four different schools in the state of New York to serve as a Latina-based sorority devoted to serving the community while fostering a sense of pride and respect for the Latina heritage.
Our Mission
The goal for Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. was to create an organization that helps the local community, unites women, and promotes scholarship. Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. dedicates itself to service, academic excellence, and professional development..
Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha Inc. was founded on the Augusta University campus in 2016.

How to Join
MGC creates a foundation for fellowship between fraternities and sororities with intentionally multi-ethnic, multicultural, gender-inclusive, and/or diverse memberships and allows for their representation and voice on campus and within the CSRA.
Requirements
- You must attend open house in order to participate in MGC Recruitment.
- Minimum academic grade point average of 2.5
- At least 9 credit hours completed
- Have attended Intake 101 at AU at least once in their collegiate career to participate in any membership intake activities.
- Enrolled full-time in at least 12 credit hours as a degree-seeking undergraduate student.
