BSW Salvation Army TableAugusta University offers many extracurricular activities tailored for Social Sciences students!

While students majoring and minoring in specific majors who meet specific requirements are invited to join the department sponsored honor societies, the discipline clubs are open to all students. Students interested in helping others and learning about careers in political science, criminal justice, sociology, social work are welcome to join our student-led student clubs. The clubs partake in a number of service projects and have been known to take trips to Washington, D.C. and invite speakers of interest to campus.

Clubs & Honor Societies

Alpha Kappa Delta

The purpose of the Alpha Kappa Delta honor society is to promote scholarship, but the focus has always been fellowship for students, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Alpha Phi Sigma

Alpha Phi Sigma is the only National Criminal Justice Honor Society for Criminal Justice Majors. The society recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate, graduate students of criminal justice, as well as juris doctorate.

Criminal Justice Club

The club is comprised of like-minded individuals interested in criminal justice issues. These include career options, field trips, and job shadowing.

Phi Alpha Honor Society

The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals.

Social Work Club

The Social Work Club is the BSW Program student organization acknowledged and funded by the Office of Student Life and Engagement at Augusta University. All students are eligible to join and pre-social work and social work major students are encouraged to meet other social work students by actively participating in the club meetings and activities.

Other Opportunities

Study Abroad

Augusta University offers study abroad and study away (domestic) programs. Nothing will be quite the same after you have studied abroad—your perspectives will be global, your attitudes international, and you will have memories that you will carry forever. 

Internships

The Internship and Fieldwork Programs are designed to allow students to receive academic credit for work experience. This work may be done in any of a variety of agencies or organizations. The internship experience should serve as a transition between the world of the classroom and the world of work.

Model UN

The National Model United Nations (NMUN) program is designed to immerse Augusta University students in realistic simulations of the United Nations (UN).

Junior Model UN

The Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) program at Augusta University introduces middle school students to global challenges and allows them to learn about the culture and politics of another State.
