Cognitive functions in aging; adult learning theory and research; research methods for occupational therapy education and practice.

Research Interests

My research concerns the following: functional performance capacities in aging, particularly Alzheimer's disease; research on the relationship of cognitive functions and motor functions to central nervous system (CNS) and motor functions to central nervous system lesions; the development and evaluation of conceptual models which can be applied to adult learning in general and to higher education in particular; exploration of the integrated use of qualitative and quantitative measures in behavioral and social science research; outcomes research methods as applied to effectiveness of treatment approaches with patients, especially treatment provided by allied health professionals. Qualitative research on rural health care and community issues as viewed by consumers and health professionals. Resources for teaching health professions students about health promotion and prevention, with an emphasis on health care delivery systems and social and behavioral risk factors. General pediatrics, chronic disease, visually impaired.
