Department of Medicine: Cardiology
Dr. Arora is a graduate of University of South Carolina and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Medical College of Georgia where he served as Chief Fellow. He has also completed a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Virginina followed by Advanced Training in Peripheral Vascular Interventions at El Camino Hospital in California.
My teaching mission centers on developing the next generation of interventional cardiologists through comprehensive, hands-on education. As Program Director of the Interventional Cardiology fellowship, I am committed to creating innovative curricula that balance technical proficiency with clinical decision-making and patient-centered care. I aim to mentor trainees at all levels--from medical students to fellows--fostering their growth as compassionate, skilled physicians. Through structured preceptorships, individualized mentoring, and collaborative research opportunities, I strive to cultivate critical thinking, procedural excellence, and a lifelong commitment to learning. My goal is to prepare trainees who will become leaders in cardiovascular medicine and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the broader field.
My research focuses on advancing interventional therapies for acute cardiovascular conditions, particularly pulmonary embolism and peripheral arterial disease. As Director of the PERT (Pulmonary Embolism Response Team) program and Principal Investigator on multiple clinical trials, I aim to improve outcomes through catheter-based interventions and multidisciplinary care modes. I am committed to expanding our zebrafish-based translational research program to study cardiotoxicity and develop novel cardioprotective strategies, particularly in the emerging field of cardi-oncology. Through ongoing NIH-funded studies and industry partnerships, my goal is to generate evidence that transforms clinical practice, reduces healthcare costs, and ultimately improves patient survival and quality of life. I am equally dedicated to mentoring junior investigators and fostering collaborative research that strengthens Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University's reputation as a leader in cardiovascular innovation.
