Dr. Ty Jenkins is an Instructor in the Department of Teaching and Leading. Her work centers on advancing equity in education through thoughtful curriculum design, strong instructional practice, and the preparation of effective K–12 educators. She examines how teaching and learning environments can support student growth, deepen engagement, and strengthen academic and social outcomes for diverse learners.
She brings experience designing and delivering graduate coursework for emerging and practicing teachers, with a focus on helping educators create rigorous, student-centered learning experiences. Dr. Jenkins’ scholarly work explores the intersections of teaching practices, educator identity, and the experiences of historically marginalized students in schools.
Science education, STEM/STEAM integration, curriculum design, culturally responsive pedagogy, assessment literacy, project-based and inquiry-based learning, and developing rigorous, student-centered instructional practices for K–12 classrooms.
