Dr. Karen Wiles earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Salisbury University (Salisbury, Maryland) in 2003 and her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee) in 2010. Her graduate work in the Department of Pathology, Cellular and Molecular Pathology Program focused on the protein biochemistry of bacterial hijacking of hemostasis. She taught undergraduate Biology and Anatomy and Physiology for several years, before moving into her current role as a Medical Educator in the Department of Physiology, and Program Co-Director of the MS in Medical Physiology program.
Dr. Karen Wiles has several years of experience teaching undergraduate Biology, Histology, and Anatomy and Physiology. She currently teaches in the Master of Science in Medical Physiology program, delivering instruction in Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, and Pathophysiology. In addition to her teaching interests, she has co-authored two open access undergraduate Histology textbooks.
