Dr. James earned his medical degree from The Medical University of South Carolina in 1987. From 1987 to 1990 he completed a family medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia and became board certified. This was followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency at the Medical College of Georgia from 1990 to 1993 with ABEM board certification in 1994. For the next 20 years, Dr. James was staff attending and medical director at Aiken Regional Medical Center in the emergency department. Since 2013 he has worked for Augusta University initially at Trinity Hospital of Augusta and now is currently an attending in the emergency department at Augusta University. Dr. James has successfully completed re-certification in emergency medicine in 2004 and 2014.
