I continue working at the Dental College of Georgia to fulfill the dual mission of educating students and serving patients through screening, patient assignments, and our ongoing QA efforts. I screened approximately 2264 patients in 2025. I also assign patients to the Junior and Senior students from the screening pool. I frequently monitor the screening patient pool to honor student requests while attempting to minimize wait time for the patients. I have intentionally tried to reduce wait times for patients in screening. I am also working with other departmental faculty and staff to identify students who may not have the correct patient mix for expected clinical experiences. Through these efforts, my goal is to help to improve our processes for the benefit of students and patients.
In addition, we continue with implementing processes to strengthen our quality control for patient records while striving to provide excellent care in our student clinics. We have automated the process to have students audit their patient records with specific criteria measured and outcomes reviewed.
