My interests include CAM, pain management, pediatrics, hospice & palliative care, and self-care for students and nurses.

Research Interests
Pain & Symptom Management
I explore how natural products/aromatic plant extracts (hydrosols, essential oils [EOs], CO2 extracts, carrier oils, and herbal-infused oils) impact pain through topical application and inhalation. I study the effect of EOs on Pain-Pressure Threshold, and substance P & eNOS during local thermal hyperemia to develop EO blends for chronic pain. I am evaluating EO heat signatures and the role of the immune system in chronic pain.
Also, I use photovoice to capture the experience of living with chronic pain, and pain-related social determinants of health.
