Bio

Augustine Hammond is an associate professor of public administration and core faculty in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at Augusta University. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Affairs and Urban Studies and an MPA from the University of Akron (OH). He also holds a Bachelor of Education and an MPA from universities in Ghana (West Africa). He is a methodologist and has worked on research in diverse areas, including drug prevention, economic development, social policy, food aid, online education, and police-public relations.

Teaching Interests

My top priority as a professor is to help students develop a passion for lifelong learning by creating a congenial and respectful classroom environment and adopting an approach that guides students to actively explore the issues being addressed themselves and apply them in their lives and future careers. I am interested in teaching courses in program evaluation, research methods and statistics, public policy, community and urban development, and introduction to American government.
