This three-year fellowship program is for ACGME-trained pediatricians who aspire to advance their clinical knowledge in mental health, and achieve board eligibility with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for two certifications: General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
Fellows complete 18 months in General Psychiatry and 18 months in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, working alongside residents and fellows in both programs. This combined program is approved and overseen by the ABPN, and each component program is accredited by the ACGME.
The goal of the MCG Post Pediatric Portal Program is to recruit pediatricians committed to learning the ever-evolving spectrum of psychiatric illness in children, adolescents, and adults. Pediatricians learn how to prevent, diagnose and treat a variety of mental health disorders impacting families in their communities, thus becoming expert psychiatric clinicians. Similar to Triple Board Residency Training, PPPP graduates complete 3 years of pediatric training and then enter the PPP pathway as fellows to achieve a challenging yet rewarding integrated training experience. Fellows are supervised by both General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent faculty throughout their 36 months and actively participate in both training programs with respect to didactics, call, and overall clinical responsibilities.
Graduates of the MCG PPPP fellowship work in many different practice settings, including community outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, private practice, telehealth, academia, integrated psychiatry-primary care clinics, and are in high demand!
