About Scott Rahimi, MD

Dr. Rahimi is a 2002 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia with more than 24 year of medical experience. He completed his neurosurgery training at MCG in 2008. He completed a fellowship at Emory University in endovascular and cerebrovascular neurosurgery in 2010. He has been in academic practice in Augusta at the Medical College of Georgia for 16 years and has completed over 4000 surgeries and procedures. He is also focused on advancing the field of neurosurgery through research with involvement in multiple national clinical trials.

Dr. Rahimi performed the 1st mechanical thrombectomy for stroke in the CSRA in 2010. Along with a multidisciplinary stroke team he helped MCG become the 1st comprehensive stroke center in the state of Georgia. And only the 2nd in the southeast at that time. In 2019, He started the 1st accredited neurosurgery fellowship at MCG in neuroendovascular surgery. Since that time the institution has trained 4 subspecialty trained stroke surgeons who have gone to provide high level stroke care to their local communities.

In his role in academic neurosurgery he has helped train 16 neurosurgeons who have gone on to practice throughout the United States.

Dr. Rahimi is married to Bric Rahimi. They have 3 children, Bennett, Cullen, and Yates.

Research Focus

  • Brain & spinal cord tumors
  • Brain aneurysms
