Congratulations for choosing medicine as a career and considering applying to the Augusta - Southwest (SW) Campus Regional Pathway.
The goal for this Pathway is develop physicians who serve their community as strong clinicians and leaders. If you have a demonstrated interest in serving underserved populations, this option might be for you. Some examples of evidence of interest would be: research, volunteering and shadowing at health systems and organizations for the underserved and spending significant time in, and expressing an understanding about the needs of, smaller communities.
As part of this Pathway, you’ll receive dedicated mentorship and support from the moment you are accepted. We will start our outreach and mentoring to ensure your transition to medical school is smooth. You'll also pair you up with a SW student to serve as your “guide” to success in the pre-clinical and clinical phase of your training. SW Regional Pathway students will start the pre-clinical phase in Augusta, but will develop a connection to SW Georgia through mentorship and dedicated dinners from local faculty, and trips to Southwest Georgia to learn more about our vibrant culture and community needs.
