Your Future
Career Options
Child, family and school social workers counsel individuals, families and communities
about issues like child abuse, adoptions or teenage pregnancy. Social workers can
also work in a health care setting, helping individuals, couples and families cope
with illnesses and disabilities, or they can collaborate with medical professionals
to determine patient needs, organize support groups or counseling, and refer patients
to specialists in support services. They can also work as mental health social works
and often provide client services in a nonprofit setting. The coursework also prepares
students to pursue advanced degrees in social work or other graduate or professional
programs.
