What You'll Study

Coursework

With the English degree with Secondary Teaching Certification, you’ll take classes in literature as well as teaching. You’ll also have a semester of student teaching under the supervision of a master teacher to make sure you have the classroom experience you need to make be successful.

Outside the Classroom

A full semester of student teaching provides important experience to make the transition from student to teacher a smooth one.

The Department of English and World Languages serves the larger university and greater Augusta community through public event programing and collaborative projects with local schools.

Events like the annual African-American Read-In and the Sand Hills Writers Series draw public participation and outside guests.

 

Research & Innovation

Whether you’re an undergraduate or graduate student, you’ll have opportunities to create your own research projects or work with faculty to tackle some of the world’s most complex and pressing challenges.
