Eligible: The student must have declared Anesthesiology their specialty and be actively participating in a project with an Anesthesiology faculty member.

Course Description: The ANES 5002 research elective is designed to give the student already participating in an active IRB project with an anesthesiology faculty member the opportunity to earn elective credit for their work on the project. The student is expected to participate in all phases of the project including preparation, publication, and presentation whenever feasible. In addition, the student will have several online modules to complete in advance for CITI training and research ethics as well as reading assignments and regular meetings with the faculty member.
This course requires application using VSAS or other arrangements made by the student. Off-Campus add form required.

Course Description: Clinical experience in Anesthesiology at an off campus hospital introducing student to the basic principles of anesthesiology; critical care medicine or pain management and development of basic knowledge for the perioperative management of the patient.

recognize commonly seen acute, chronic and cancer pain conditions and develop a basic

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce medical students to the basic
principles and practice of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. During the rotation
students will rotate with faculty and residents on a daily basis. The locations will
include the general operating room and other sub specialty areas. Assessment to include
Faculty/Resident evaluation and Presentation.

Course Description: This course helps students develop the skills necessary to treat
patients in need of respiratory therapy. Emphasizing on non-invasive ventilation,
and mechanical ventilation. Students will be more comfortable in the ICU following
this rotation. The course involves three days a week in the classroom with combined
lecture and interactive scenarios and the fourth day with the simulation lab. ACLS
provided for a fee, but is optional time permitting.
