Additional Fun Activity
LETS GO SHRIMPIN'
Shrimp Boat Excursion on the “Lady Jane”
Colleagues, For the last two years during our faculty development conference on Jekyll Island, we have had the pleasure of taking an excursion on a real shrimp boat, converted and outfitted for eco-tourism and fun. It has been one of the highlights of the weekend. This year, once again, Captain Cameron has reserved the Lady Jane for 49 of us to enjoy on a sunset cruise from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday the 1st of June. We will do a shrimp net trawl and cruise of the rivers and bay around Saint Simons and Jekyll Island. A marine biologist will be onboard to discuss the species we find, and the ecology of the barrier islands. You will see many species of fish, crabs, sharks and, of course, real Georgia shrimp. There will be a chance to hold and touch some of the specimens for those so inclined. Afterwards, all of the creatures will be returned to the waters unharmed. We will enjoy a low country boil as we cruise the rivers and bay. Water and snacks will be provided as well as coolers for any beverages you would like to bring. This is a family event and fun for all ages.
For more information please go to: www.shrimpcruise.com
Please join us. The cost for the boat is $35 per person.
We look forward to seeing you there.
