REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS – UNITE IN THE FIGHT 2025

Purpose

This internal award opportunity distributes funds acquired through the 2025 Unite in the Fight Against Cancer campaign to support projects designed for the improvement of Georgia Cancer Center (GCC) patient care and experience.

Eligibility/Criteria

  • This funding opportunity is open to all Georgia Cancer Center Faculty and Staff. 
  • Funding must not be used for salary support. 
  • Projects that immediately improve patient care and/or patient experience while at GCC will be considered for this Unite in the Fight Against Cancer funding. Proposals that impact our community in cancer-related aspects, such as cancer prevention, early detection, cancer education and others are also eligible.  
  • Research proposals are not eligible. Alternative internal award mechanisms are available to support research projects. 
  • Priority will be given to proposals of those who participated in the 2025 Unite in the Fight event. 

 

Amount: Up to $20,000 over one year 

Number of Awards: The number of awards issued is limited only by the amount of funds generated by Unite in the Fight Against Cancer campaign. 

Application Requirements

  • A description of your proposal for improving patient care and/or patient experience, not to exceed 2 pages.  
    • Minimum font size and type: 12-point Times New Roman or 11-point Arial 
    • Minimum margin: 0.5 inches 
    • Criteria the judges will consider in evaluating proposals include: impact on patient care and well-being; novelty; feasibility; significance; and value and justification for the budget requested. 
    • Proposals that exceed two pages will not be reviewed. However, up to one additional page consisting of relevant supplemental material that is critical for the review of the application is permissible (e.g., brochures, literature, etc.); alternatively, a link to forms, brochures, etc., can be provided. 
  • The title for your proposal 
  • The leader (i.e., the individual responsible for the submission and execution of the project) 
  • The following sections:  
    • Background: the need this project is addressing;  
    • Population: what subset of patients would benefit, and how, whether directly or indirectly, through helping healthcare providers in their service to patients;  
    • Methods: how the project will be conducted, what methodology will be used, possible barriers to implementing the project; 
    • Timeline: how long it would take to implement and complete the project;  
    • Evaluation: the measurables for the outcome proposed, how the impact or benefit of the project will be assessed.
  • A budget outlining the cost of implementing this idea and how the funds will be distributed is required on a separate page. The maximum budget is $20,000. Proposals of ideas with budgets ranging from $1 to $20,000 are acceptable. 

 

A report on the outcome of the project will be required one year after the distribution of the funds. Unused funds after one year will be re-evaluated and possibly redistributed.
