These scholarships help reduce financial barriers and support students in achieving their academic and professional goals in technology and cybersecurity fields

The Lillian P. and Victor Rattner Computer Science Scholarship Endowment

About the Scholarship

The Lillian P. and Victor Rattner Computer Science $2.4 million Scholarship Endowment will support tuition, as well as room and board, books, and other college fees, reducing the financial burdens associated with higher education and allowing student recipients to better focus on their studies. 

The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee with notification to the Office of Student Financial Aid for processing and awarding. The scholarship shall be open to all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship, disability, age, or veteran status, subject to 
the criteria set forth below: 

Eligibility:

  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled in Augusta University pursuing a degree within the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences.
  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time. Preference shall be given to students who have one or more physical disabilities, demonstrate need, or based on prior academic achievement.
  • Recipient(s) selection shall be made on merit and/or financial need.
  • In the event that the above criteria are not satisfied, the scholarship may be awarded at the discretion of the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee in a manner that closely aligns with the scholarship criteria.
  • The scholarship may be used for tuition, room and board, books and/or fees

SMART Scholarship for Service

About the Scholarship

The Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program is available for students  pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and guaranteed civilian employment with the Department of Defense upon graduation. 

All majors within the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences meet the degree requirements for this scholarship.

Eligibility:

All applicants must be:

  • a citizen of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or United Kingdom at time of application,
  • 18 years of age or older by January 1, 2026
  • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be currently pursuing, or intend to pursue in fall 2025, a degree in a SMART STEM discipline
  • Be requesting between 1-5 years of degree funding. Degree funding will start in August 2025
  • Complete summer internships
  • Accept a one-for-one post graduation service commitment as a civilian employee of the Department of Defense

The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program is different from the DoD Cyber Scholarship in that students must directly apply to the SMART Scholarship Program via the SMART web site.  The application window is open between August 1 and December 1 of each year.

Army Military Science Scholarship Program

About the Scholarship

The Department of Military Science at Augusta University accepts applications for students to apply for two or three year scholarships throughout the year. Applications are due in February and interested applicants do not have to be enrolled in Military Science courses in order to apply. In addition to the National Scholarships, the department chair awards multiple four, three, and two-year scholarships annually to competitive, eligible students, no matter your classification.

Eligibility:

Scholarship recipients receive the following:

  • Full tuition and fees OR $10,000 for room and board
  • Army ROTC scholarships also provide a monthly living allowance of $420/month for each school year

Military Science Scholarships

The SteelGate Computer & Cyber Science Scholarship

About the Scholarship

Driven by a passion for student success and innovation, SteelGate proudly supports the Spring and Fall Cyber Georgia STEMfest events at the Georgia Cyber Center, engaging more than 200 middle and high school students in STEM-focused learning each year. Beyond the classroom, SteelGate provides students with valuable real-world experience through internships, bridging the gap between classroom learning and workforce readiness. Their ultimate goal is to equip students with both the education and hands-on skills necessary to thrive in the fields of science and technology and help close the industry’s workforce gap.

Building on this commitment, SteelGate has pledged $15,000 to establish the SteelGate Computer & Cyber Science Scholarship Fund, supporting students in the School of Computer & Cyber Sciences at Augusta University. This investment ensures that students not only have access to financial support but are also empowered to pursue careers that advance discovery and shape the future of computer and cyber sciences.

Eligibility:

  • Recipients must be enrolled at Augusta University pursuing an undergraduate degree within the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences
  • Recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student
  • Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Selection will be based on merit and/or financial
  • Three recipients will be awarded $5,000 each
  • The scholarship may be used for tuition, room and board, books and/or fees

Michael and Maria Davenport Family Scholarship Endowment

About the Scholarship
The Michael and Maria Davenport Family Scholarship Endowment supports students pursuing degrees in the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, helping them achieve their educational goals while preparing for careers in technology and cybersecurity.
The scholarship was established by CPT Michael R. Davenport ('97) and Maria Clemente Davenport ('99) to support future students following in their footsteps at Augusta University. Both are military veterans who met while stationed at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, before relocating to Augusta and Fort Gordon, where they attended then Augusta State University. Mike enrolled in the ROTC program and went on to build a distinguished career in technology development, currently serving as Senior Vice President at Booz Allen Hamilton. In recognition of his professional achievements and service to the university, he received the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2024.
The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee in consultation with the Chair of Military Science, with notification to the Office of Student Financial Aid for processing and awarding. The scholarship shall be open to all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship, disability, age, or veteran status, subject to the criteria set forth below:

 

Eligibility

  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled in the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences at Augusta University.
  • Recipient(s) must be enrolled full-time.
  • One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to an eligible ROTC cadet.
  • Recipient selection shall be based on merit and/or financial need.
  • If the above criteria are not satisfied, the scholarship may be awarded at the discretion of the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee in a manner that closely aligns with the scholarship criteria.
  • Recipient(s) may receive the scholarship more than once during their academic career, as determined by the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee.
  • The scholarship may be used for tuition, room and board, books and/or fees.

Lorenti Scholarship Endowment

The Lorenti Scholarship Endowment supports students pursuing undergraduate degrees within Augusta University’s School of Computer & Cyber Sciences, helping them achieve academic success, prepare for fulfilling careers, and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

About the Scholarship

The scholarship was established by Mark Lorenti, whose connection to Augusta began in 1992 when he was stationed at Fort Gordon while serving in the military. After meeting his wife, Sharon, he chose to remain in Augusta and continue his education at Augusta College.

Mark graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1994 and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1995. During his time as a student, he was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and was an active member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

In 1993, Mark began working in the Augusta College IT department, first as a programmer and later as a systems analyst. During his tenure, he served as a project lead, overseeing the evaluation, selection, and implementation of software for multiple areas of the college and contributing to three major system conversions.

Sharon Lorenti is a 1989 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing. She returned to MCG in 1996 to earn her nurse practitioner degree and later served as a faculty member at Augusta University.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled at Augusta University and pursuing an undergraduate degree within the School of Computer & Cyber Sciences.
  • Be enrolled full-time.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Demonstrate merit and/or financial need.

Scholarship recipients are selected by the School of Computer & Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee, with awards processed through the Office of Student Financial Aid.

The Taxslayer Scholarship Award

About the Scholarship

The TaxSlayer Scholarship awards $1,000 annually to one student majoring in Computer Science, helping support their academic success and educational expenses.

The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected by the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee, with notification to the Office of Student Financial Aid for processing and awarding. The scholarship shall be open to all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, citizenship, disability, age or veteran status, subject to the criteria set forth below:

Eligibility

  • Recipient(s) must be majoring in Computer Science.
  • Recipient(s) must demonstrate financial need and remain in good academic standing.
  • Recipient(s) must have earned a grade of B or higher in all Computer Science courses.
  • A student who maintains the required qualifications may receive the scholarship for more than one consecutive year, as determined by the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences Scholarship Committee, provided funding continues to be made available by the donor.
  • A recipient who withdraws from the university or fails to maintain the required academic standing in their major will no longer be eligible for renewal of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship may be used for tuition, room and board, books and/or fees.
