AU Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP)

Learning by Doing

Science Education ClassIn fall 2016, Augusta University’s (AU) inaugural quality enhancement plan (QEP), Learning by Doing, was implemented to enhance student learning through offering experiential learning opportunities and a Certificate of Leadership for undergraduates. The plan aims to impacts students through a multipronged effort to develop faculty as innovative teachers, support experiential learning inside and outside of the classroom, and guide leadership development in our students.

The QEP goals are transdisciplinary, and were selected because all colleges could participate in, and benefit from the goals as they aligned directly with the strategic plan of the University, Beyond Boundaries.

Goals of the Plan

  1. Enhance instructional delivery through activity-based and experiential learning practices;
  2. Provide opportunities for students to apply skills and knowledge acquired through activity-based and experiential learning in practical experiences; and
  3. Prepare students to be leaders in their future professional, educational, and service endeavors by providing leadership curriculum that can lead to an academic certificate.
