The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is dedicated to providing our patients the best care in the toughest of times.  Our Department of Emergency Medicine prides itself on providing top-tier care to patients of all backgrounds.  We recognize that this involves training and recruiting a diverse and well-rounded force of physicians able to care for all patients that walk through our doors.  In keeping with our Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s strategic plan Beyond Boundaries and Creating a Legacy Like No Other, we strive to cultivate and incentivize diversity, equality, and inclusion as foundational cornerstones of our program.

We are thrilled to announce our newest initiative, the Augusta University Emergency Medicine Visiting Elective Diversity Scholarship Program!  We know that being a visiting student is rough to begin with - new environments, new people, strange EHRs, and flipping schedules constantly.  We want to remove some of that burden with a $1500 scholarship for visiting students who identify as an underrepresented minority in medicine!  Our Emergency Medicine clerkship is a four-week rotation that is performed at our Level 1 Trauma Center/Comprehensive Stroke Center/Certified Chest Pain Center, immersing visiting medical students in fast-paced ED with a diverse patient population.
