Our programs are led by qualified AU faculty whose knowledge of local customs, culture, and geography is matched only by their enthusiasm for their field of study.

Throughout the years, Augusta University students have been transformed by international and cross-cultural experiences – for some it is their first time traveling outside the continental US, for some the Southeast region. Ask any Study Abroad alumni, and they will tell you how their introduction to a new culture along with their friends has broadened their perspective of the world. This transformation varies from person to person; however, experts agree that education abroad leads to a multitude of benefits. These can include academic success, employability (that's right parents!), interpersonal relationships, learning another language, and greater appreciation for cultural differences. Isn't this, after all, a primary objective of a college education? In an increasingly connected world, lessons learned in studies abroad translate readily to the workplace and post-grad education. We hope you agree that the return on a Study Abroad or Away investment will pay dividends for your student. Read more about our mission.

Each Augusta University Study Abroad program is developed with the safety and security of our students in mind, first and foremost.

Our programs adhere to rigorous guidelines set forth by the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, and takes into consideration any concerns that parents/guardians may have.

Program destinations, courses, and itineraries are carefully reviewed ahead of time by the Institutional Study Abroad Committee. Trusted relationships with AU leadership and international partners help us confirm the safety, security, cleanliness, and suitability of a particular destination for Augusta University students.  Augusta University's professionally trained Study Abroad staff team is well-traveled and well-versed in the policies and procedures that govern Study Abroad. We work year-round to ensure that our programs operate within full compliance of these protocols. Ultimately, this means you can have peace of mind when your child leaves Augusta or the United States with one of our programs.

A word about expenses (we know you're curious).

When designing and approving a program, we focus on making each accessible to as many students as possible. This includes financial accessibility. There are two main areas regarding cost: Program Fees and Funding Opportunities.

Our Program Fees vary depending on the destination, length of time, accommodations, included meals & excursions, and number of faculty leaders – other factors may be included as well. Visit our program pages to view the most up-to-date cost of each program. Your student will also receive an estimated budget during the application process for their program of choice.

There are so many Funding Opportunities for our students! Our goal is to help students utilize existing financial aid and apply for critical scholarships toward their studies abroad or away. These include Financial Aid (loans, Pell grant, Hope & Zell Miller Scholarship), the AU Study Abroad Scholarship, other AU departmental scholarships, and national scholarships & grants. Explore our Scholarships website to see the full range of opportunities.

We are eager to hear where your child will be going!
