Nationally recognized expert in computer technology named dean of the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences

Alexander Schwarzmann, a nationally recognized expert in computer technology whose work primarily focuses on cybersecurity of electronic voting, distributed computing, survivable distributed information systems, and fault-tolerant systems, has been named dean of Augusta University’s School of Computer and Cyber Sciences following a national search. His appointment is effective Aug. 1, and he will succeed the new school’s founding dean Joanne Sexton who will continue serving as the director of the Augusta University Cyber Institute.

Strategic Plan charts course to the future

At his State of the University Address on Oct. 20, President Brooks Keel unveiled Beyond Boundaries, Augusta University’s new strategic plan. Composed of four strategic focus areas – Education, Research and Scholarship, Clinical Care and Outreach and Economic Development – the plan was built from the feedback of over 3,500 surveys and focused by 700 additional comments from a follow-up survey and a series of town hall meetings.
