The Student Research Program (SRP) is an initiative funded by the Augusta University Provost office, intended to encourage outstanding research, scholarship, and creative activities by AU Students.
This program funds up to twenty $1,000 vouchers annually for meritorious student activities.
The program is open to all full-time students who are working with an AU faculty mentor on the Summerville campus or Health Sciences Campus, in any type of research. Students from all schools and programs within AU are encouraged to apply.
Note: SRP funding is NOT limited to math, science, engineering, or health research. Meritorious activities from student-mentor pairs from the liberal arts are encouraged to apply. The program is committed to supporting scholarly activity in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. If you have questions about how your work might "fit" the mission of the SRP, please contact Brandi McCorkle at bmccorkle@augusta.edu , and your questions will be answered.
Funds may be used for a variety of project costs, including supplies, information discovery, lab fees, conference, presentation, or performance costs, travel related to the project, and other expenses relevant to the work.
To begin, each student must request a studio. A studio is a 30 minute meeting between the student-mentor pair and members of the Translational Research Program working group. The review committee will be comprised of faculty and research staff. The studio is intended to provide constructive feedback on the nature of the project as well as give the committee a broad overview on how voucher monies will be spent. The studio committee will also be interested in anticipated deliverables resulting from the support.
Both student and mentor must meet with the committee at the Augusta Health Sciences Campus for the studio; if not, the meeting will be canceled, and the application will be rejected.
Please note: Priority will be given to new projects, but if funding allows, we will entertain continuing projects.
