He received Exemplary Teaching Award for his teaching efforts and his commitment to teaching quality and curriculum advancement in AY2019/2020 and for Excellence in Undergraduate Medical Education (2016 and 2018) and Distinguished Teaching Award (2014). Before transitioning to primarily educational leadership, he held two NIH R01 awards and a VA Merit award.
