“Jenny joined MCG in 1995 and two years later, moved from the School of Nursing to the IACUC office. In the 23 years that Jenny has served as the IACUC Coordinator, she has been responsible for initiating many major changes to the IACUC program and its administration. These include establishing an occupational health program for animal users, the transition from paper to on-line protocol submissions and involvement in six successful AAALAC reaccreditations of our animal care program. During this time, as IACUC Chairs have come and gone, Jenny has gracefully adapted to having a new manager every few years, providing stability and continuity in our animal care program. She is a staunch defender of animal welfare and her in depth understanding of federal and USDA regulations and their application is invaluable. Members of the IACUC rely on her for training and take advantage of her knowledge to keep Augusta University compliant. Many investigators seek out Jenny for advice on how to develop and amend their protocols and are impressed not only by her insight and efficiency, but also by her positive attitude and willingness to help. This consideration for others extends beyond her role as IACUC coordinator as Jenny is a friend and supporter of many current and past MCG employees and anyone who has visited the IACUC office is aware of her compassion for animals, especially her “family” of terriers.”
