How to Access Training

Biosafety Training is completed through Percipio. Biosafety Training is a self-enrollment process and the responsibility of the faculty and staff (for additional training, please visit the Environmental Health & Safety Training page).

  1. Log in using JagID and Password.
  2. Click on the menu item labeled "Register for Training."
  3. Search for the name of the training. (See modules below)
  4. Follow the Registration Instructions.

Training Modules

Initial Biosafety and Bloodborne Pathogen Training

  • Audience: Principal Investigators and all personnel before beginning work with biological materials for research purposes and those overseeing biological use. 
  • Frequency: Once
  • Grade to pass: 70% or higher to complete the course.

Annual Biological Safety and Bloodborne Pathogen Refresher Training

If you have not been assigned this module through Workforce Learn Online (in which case, it would be listed among your lessons to be completed), we may not have a record of completing the pre-requisite "Initial Biosafety and Bloodborne Pathogen Training" course. Please contact the Biological Safety Office for questions or concerns.

  • Audience: Principal Investigators and all personnel before beginning work with biological materials for research purposes and those overseeing biological use. This training is assigned during Annual Compliance Month.
  • Frequency: Annually
  • Grade to pass: 75% or higher to complete the course.

Start Training

NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules

The course is available through Workforce Learn Online and is assigned during the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) review and when new researchers are added to the research protocol.   

  • Audience: Principal Investigators and for all personnel conducting research that is subject to the NIH Guidelines
  • Frequency: Once
  • Grade to pass: 70% or higher to complete the course.
