I enjoy working in the writing center because it lets me flex my teaching and communication skills. I also enjoy learning about different people and ideas. The writing center is always abuzz with conversations on various topics, so there is no shortage of new things to learn and to implement within consultations.
As a non-native English speaker, I had the privilege to work at the writing center. This opportunity not only helped me to grow as a student and as an individual, but it also helped me develop critical thinking skills that were passed on to the students that accompanied me during the writing sessions. It was the most rewarding experience to be a part of the WC team. I truly believe that the WC is a great resource that provides both writers and consultants with tools for success.
The writing center is an invaluable resource on campus. I am able to provide assistance during every stage in the writing process, while also assuaging students' anxieties related to their assignments and the college experience, in general. As a future counselor, this has been rewarding. I also enjoy getting to connect with students of all types and helping them to learn something new, while also often learning something new myself.
