The Vocal program at the Augusta University Department of Music offers an outstanding undergraduate vocal performance experience in Georgia. Students develop strong technical foundations and artistic expression through solo performance, opera studies, choral ensembles, and collaborative musicianship, preparing for careers in performance, music education, and advanced graduate study.
Vocal students at Augusta University study with outstanding faculty, Dr. Courtney Kalbacker and Dr. Marcel Ramalho. Our choral ensembles perform regularly both on and off campus, and include the University Singers, Chamber Singers, Opera Ensemble and Gospel Choir. In 2020, the choir and orchestra participated in the premiere of the Da Vinci Notebook by Jocelyn Hagen. The AU Opera Ensemble gives performances of opera, music theatre, and/or operetta each year. AU Opera regularly performs American operas, operas for children, and classics of the canon, giving students and audiences a variety of musical experiences. The choral ensembles and opera ensemble are open to any AU student by audition or invitation.
