Symphony of speed: Professor’s pups master the course
“It’s a bit terrifying. Probably my background in music helps to deal with the stress."
If you are interested in a career in music as a performer, teacher, composer, or researcher, you will need to develop your skills to expand your knowledge of music. Augusta University provides intensive musical training on the collegiate level for musicians preparing for a profession in music education, music performance, jazz studies, musical theater and general studies in music, while serving non-music majors and music minors with a variety of offerings.
Musical performance is a vital component of all programs. Individualized instruction allows for a nurturing environment reflecting high regard for the musical legacies of the past as well as preparedness for the future. Our graduates have gone on to rewarding careers as professional performers, public school music teachers, band directors, choral directors, church musicians, and private music teachers.

Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute)" will be performed by the Augusta University Opera Initiative, under the direction of Díana Thompson-Brewer, DMA, on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23, at the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre.
This significant investment was primarily aimed at bolstering areas where the university expects to see the most growth in core classes that first- and second-year students need to progress toward their degree, but the funding will also support all areas of enrollment growth through increasing student support in areas.
“Just in the same way that students have convocation and their opening moments, we want faculty to understand that they’re joining a community,” said Karen Head, PhD, associate provost for Faculty Affairs.
