The MCG Dual Degree Pathway includes both a period of time in which students enroll in the MD program only and then, after completing two years of MD requirements, enroll in the MD/MBA, MD/MPH, or MD/MCTS Dual Degree Program.
This arrangement allows students to take courses in the MD and MBA/MPH programs concurrently. Students must complete all degree requirements of each program before Augusta University can confer separately these two degrees upon the students.
After reading relevant documents below, by March 15, please complete the form indicating your interest in one of the Dual Degrees. Please note that there is another option for the MBA that we have not been able to add to the program description. A consortium of five universities offers an entirely online MBA (WebMBA) that runs two courses a term for five terms beginning in the fall term or the spring term. There is no tuition relief for this program that will cost you about $25,000 ($5,000 per term). Please email Dr. Fly at cfly@augusta.edu if this option interests you.
Please ignore the deadlines in the documents below and use March 15 for an expression of interest, and April 15 for the application.
How does the last course over the summer for the MBA work with residency?
There is still 1 course in the summer after graduation that students must complete. We are working on resolving this so it will not be an issue.
Can you do away rotations and the MBA?
Yes. Current students schedule these when there are breaks or between semesters in the MBA program.
Does enrolling in this pathway mean less opportunities for electives?
No. Less electives are required, but you can take more than required.
Can you enroll in a different degree?
Not as part of the dual degree pathway. This will be almost impossible without stepping out for a year, which students have the opportunity to do.
Can regional campus students enroll?
Yes, in the MPH and MCTS; not the MBA
How does residency placement and STEP scores compare?
We haven’t looked at this and don’t have plans to yet. Our first graduating class in the dual degree will be 2024.
