(EUROPA) Expanded Use of Remote Objective Monitoring During Telehealth Visits for People with CF Experiencing Acute Symptoms (Project EUROPA)

This is a quality improvement prospective observational cohort study to improve the evaluation and treatment of acute respiratory symptoms in people with CF through telehealth and expanded remote monitoring. People with CF who have agreed to participate will be scheduled for a telehealth visit when they notify their CF center of worsening CF symptoms suggestive of a pulmonary exacerbation. The hypothesis is that utilizing telehealth services for acute pulmonary exacerbations is implementable, associated with a high patient satisfaction and more then 80% of telehealth visits will be able to collect full-battery of objective data requested (spirmotry, weight, and pulse oximetry).


Eligibility Criteria

  • Inclusion Criteria: Individuals diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis followed at Augusta University Adult and Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Clinics Age 6 years and older Patients reporting the most exacerbations in the previous 48 months Can legally be seen by telehealth (i.e., either lives in the state of Georgia, or can travel within the state borders of Georgia for their telehealth visit) Willing to participate in telehealth clinical visits Exclusion Criteria: Post organ transplant
