African American experience ongoing disparities in hypertension. Mobile health technology offers a cost-effective way to provide additional support for patients. Text messaging can provide patients with information they need to understand and participate in their self-management. This pilot project is to perform 3 virtual group interviews to identify blood pressure self-management text-message process, language and content that is preerred in the African American community. There will be a total of 25 patients, each patients will be asked to attend one virtual group meeting. Each group interview lasts 90 minute long. The meeting will be led by the PI and sub-investigators. In the meeting, participants will be asked questions about blood pressure awareness, and about the use and the frequency of text messages to support blood pressure control. Participants will also be shown sample message and ask for feedback and their specific preferences for the text messages as well. The virtual meeting will be audio-virtuallt recorded.
