Gain valuable experience outside the classroom
The Internship and Fieldwork Programs are designed to allow students to receive academic
credit for work experience. This work may be done in any of a variety of agencies
or organizations. The internship experience should serve as a transition between the
world of the classroom and the world of work. The internship will give students an
opportunity to relate their academic study to work situations and will provide more
information on which to base a career choice.
Requirements to do an internship or field placement:
- You must be a Junior or Senior for a CRJU or POLS or SOCI internship.
- You must be a Senior Social Work Major for a SOWK field placement.
- You must be in good academic standing.
- You must receive the permission of the instructor before registering.
Additional Guidelines
- In order to apply for any internships, you must contact the professor teaching the
course for permission to add the course. They will grant permission if you fill out
the correct paperwork, meet all qualifications, and you are able to find a suitable
placement.
- Please plan ahead. It is best to start working on determining a placement at least
half of a semester before you wish to do the internship or placement.
