Dr. Mohamed received a Career Development Award from American Heart Association entitled "Role of established hypertension in impaired renal recovery and function post-AKI in hypertensive males and females."
Ellie Mannon, a graduate student in Dr. O'Connor's lab, received the Department of Physiology Chair’s Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships to attend the American Physiological Society (APS) Professional Skills course.
Volunteers from our department came together to assist the SPCA Albrecht Center in Aiken, South Carolina through the Augusta University Virtual Days of Service and made 94 sewn cat nip toys and 166 puzzle treat boxes from paper rolls. Our team collected over 19 pounds of cat food and more than 29 ounces of treat donations for the 200 cats currently at the city shelter and within their foster network.
The Physiology Department raised over $320 for the Month of Miracle's to support the Children's Hospital of Georgia!

Dr. Ellen Gillis, a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Jennifer Sullivan's lab, received a Kidney Council New Investigator Travel Award.
Lindsey Ramirez, a graduate student in Dr. Jennifer Sullivan's lab, received the American Foundation for Hypertension Research and Education Travel Grant for Support of Underrepresented Minorities along with an invited oral presentation.
