Phi Eta Sigma

Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society

Founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois, Phi Eta Sigma is the nation's oldest and largest honor society for first-year college and university students in all disciplines. The three Greek words appearing on our crest form the motto of the organization: 'Knowledge is Power.' Members are selected based on outstanding academic performance during their first year in college. Nationally, Phi Eta Sigma provides significant scholarships for its student members and since 1940, has awarded over $6 million dollars.

At Augusta University, Phi Eta Sigma members fondly call themselves the ‘Phi Sigs’ used for informal Phi Eta Sigma engagements. For more information, please reach out to the FYE office.
