Dr. Allen grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from St Vincent College and his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a traditional rotating osteopathic internship at UPMC St Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh and his residency in Emergency Medicine at MCG. He served in the United States Army with assignments as a flight surgeon in the 10th Mountain Division and multiple positions at Eisenhower Army Medical Center including Chief of Emergency Medicine. He is currently the Vice Chair of Operational Medicine at Eisenhower Army Medical Center and is the medical director for Fort Eisenhower Fire and EMS. He is the Director of Quality for the Department of Emergency Medicine. He is as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is a member of both the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the National Ski Patrol. His wife Jennifer is the program director for the OB/GYN residency program and together they have a daughter and twin boys. His primary professional interests are medicolegal review, performance improvement, and pre-hospital emergency services.
