Dr. Allen grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from St Vincent College and his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a traditional rotating osteopathic internship at UPMC St Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh and his residency in Emergency Medicine at MCG. He served in the United States Army with assignments as a flight surgeon in the 10th Mountain Division and as Chief of Emergency Medicine at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. His background is pre-hospital emergency services having served as both a firefighter and EMT prior to medical school. He currently works full time at Eisenhower Army Medical Center and is the Medical Director for the Fort Gordon Fire Department and Fort Gordon EMS. He is a member of both the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the National Ski Patrol. His wife Jennifer is the program director for the OB/GYN residency program and together they have a daughter and twin boys. His primary professional interests are medicolegal review, performance improvement, and pre-hospital emergency services.
