Teaching Interests
Dr. Ebony Whisenant’s teaching interests center on interdisciplinary health professions education that prepares learners to work collaboratively in community-based clinical environments. She is deeply committed to training future clinicians to care for underserved populations through patient-centered, culturally responsive, and community-engaged approaches. Her work emphasizes community medicine, population health, and experiential learning models that foster empathy, teamwork, and practical problem-solving skills.

Dr. Ebony Whisenant’s research interests focus on understanding and addressing the social determinants of health that influence outcomes in underserved communities. She emphasizes community-engaged research approaches that elevate patient and community voices, strengthen partnerships, and translate real-world needs into sustainable health system improvements. Her work explores community medicine, health equity, population health interventions, and practice-based innovations that improve access, enhance care coordination, and reduce disparities.
